Minneapolis Tour & Mississippi River Cruise

Explore Minneapolis and the Mississippi River on this interesting, interactive tour. Begin the tour aboard a motorcoach with live commentary and travel through the Minneapolis Kenwood residential area (Mary Tyler Moore House), around sparkling city lakes, and past the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.

Following the riding tour, enjoy the famous Minneapolis Farmers Market on the sidewalks of Nicollet Mall. You’ll have ample time to become immersed in the charming discoveries of the market. Minnesota specialties abound: fresh vegetables, cut flowers, honey, fruits, bakery goods, nuts, cheese and bedding plants.

The tour then continues aboard a modern replica of a historic sternwheeler – the pride of the 19th century – for a cruise on the mighty Mississippi River. The swish of the paddlewheel and the blast of the whistle are a delight as we enjoy the sights along the river. The Great Steamboat Era began in 1811 with the launch of the New Orleans and by mid-century, the Mississippi River was filled with paddlewheel steamers.

This Minneapolis river cruise travels through the Upper St. Anthony Falls Lock, which is the northernmost lock of the 29 along the Mississippi River, and the deepest with a descent of 50 feet. This area is abundant in both history and commerce with old St. Anthony, where Minneapolis began on one side, and the spectacular downtown skyline on the other. The cruise takes you under both the Hennepin Avenue Bridge and the historic James J. Hill Stone Arch Bridge, and past the Guthrie Theater, along with a view of the new 35W bridge.
